Cool Bobby . . . The main thing is variety. I'd better warn 'ya, it's not as easy as it looks. We'll need a bunch of the more interesting cars doing burnouts and launches -- from both sides of the track. I can't pick photos if the cars are all going in the same direction. Then, a variety of pit service shots . . . again, the more interesting cars (and characters), a few of concession stands, goodie booth (if there is one), signage, tech line, special display-only cars, or . . . basically, everything.

We should see if we can get a few match race exhibition cars (that aren't in Bakersfield), or cackle cars, and maybe I can get VP Fuel to throw in some Alky and nitro (?). Just a thought. Maybe some product give-aways from major manufacturers? (I'm well connected). They're all tight on cash flow, but there's a chance you can attract some product freebies for the racers. I can probably get Vintage Drag Club to throw down some nostalgia T-shirts for give-aways. The more you have going on, the more you'll be able to attract at the front gate. 'Ya gotta put some butts in the seats to help make it work, but they have to have a reason to show up. How 'bout a car show? Maybe get a local club to organize that? It's all about marketing and that's a big part of my job.

Well now its for all the world to know. I went to the Island Dragway website and there it is Oct 18, 2009 1st Annual Dover Drag Strip Nostalgia Drags. I'm Pumped.

FIELD REPORT FROM BOB SMITH............
I went racing with my buddy at Island Dragway on Sat. The track looks real good with the improvements. Weather was good which gave a good turnout...about 60-75 cars in Pro Et and Super Et each. Some Top sportsman cars were testing (7 second cars) and in Super the fastest dragster ran 7.30's. My point here is you can run fast here ....just use the chute and have brakes!! For our race, the guys need to bring generators (No AC). ALL gas cans MUST be red plastic 5 gals containers....NJ State Police inforced. As far as food, they do have a stand ...all the basics. We usually bring our own, I'll leave it at that. As far as charcoal/propane grills, I gotta check. I know Atco NJ is OK I'll get back on it. EZ ups and canopys OK. The pit space is basically divided, either side of the stream. One side is all smooth level grass, the other is older pavement. Either is fine. They resurfaced the track and burnout areas, good shape Everyone will be on pitside as spectator side is never usually open....wooden bleachers.
Basic bathrooms...along with a few porto-potties. NJ law, no one under 18 in staging area...or on scooters. Guess thats it, man. Talk to you soon....

Comfort Inn on rt57 8.2 miles S E of the track 908-813-8500 West Hacketstown,N.J.
Inn at Panther Valley on rt 517 6.4 miles from the track,this one is on the right, you pass by it on the way to the track if ya get off exit 19 on I-80 !!908-852-6000 !Hacketstown,N.J.
The DDS .Com Willys will probably be at the Comfort Inn saturday nite!
