Sparky just called to give some updates...Show starting to take off! he's hoping for 1000 cars ! We'll have a "DOVER DRAG STRIP" space set-up with all the Race and website info, manned by Brian. He'll be displaying his relics and be an Information center for 'everything Dover".All the info at:

Personally,I think it's gonna be a hit! Just like the Dover 1 2 3 Nostalgia Drags Events! Even better than the Good Guys I bet! Hope they have some nice sunny weather,and a packed turnout!

Nobody posted anything....so I checked around.... It was a Fri-Sat show...My 2 cents....We saw how Sat. at our show deminished the participation - We were trying to 'space' out the action and not jam up Sun. Cap Area Rods said we' should double the entrys on sun. But FRI too ? ...people work ...would only go to a Fri thing if it was like a 3-day affair and made a mini-vacation out of it. And $45. for one or two days -I think...had me confused. My searching found a low car count on Friday ...little more on Sat...then it Rained about 11am. some photos available on HAMB ...got to search to find them....and wide open spaces in the background.

Lots of rain today, not so much yesterday. I don't think there was 100 cars yesterday, maybe 200 or so today. My buddies that were on the grounds with their car spent most of the time dry in "Fosters" wetting their whistle.

Sounds 'sad' Pat.I agree,Friday was a bad idea (unless it was a 3 dayer),also a 'bit' disorganized and confusing with the setups of the event by way you described it? I think what really trashed it was the rain I'm sure;it deters a lot of spectators from attending. Don't know if they'll try it again next year? Did you hear anything of what's planned?

"Sad" was a word I heard alot yesterday. I got there at 9am, parked right outside the ticket stand. First time in over 20 years I got that close. I was home by 11:30 and that included sitting out a rainstorm and chatting with friends. I think the only way to get the vendors back again is to give them a rain check for next year. I do appreciate the work of Sparky and his club. I hope they can do it again next year.

"I know from experiance what it's like to take the 'plunge' and start a whole new event. I've run car shows-cruise nights ,and now the Dover Nostalgia Drags The weather was probably the most negative factor scaring people away. They watch too many weather sites and on TV and get mixed signals. Like to find out when the rain finally ended. Last year at our Nostalgia drags at Lebanon...we could watch the radar on the tower computers and KNEW the storm cells would pass soon.We told the guys...wait it out. But at the first drop of rain ...guys packed up and left. Too bad...45 minutes after the rain stopped-we had the track dry and ran the whole event off. Some didn't even show,cause it was raining in Conn. We plan on giving same day updates on our website and new Dover Dragstrip FaceBook page to give real time reports.We will be contacting Sparky and lending our support for next year. You guys do the same. Dino"
